Early result of Wall St. West plan starts leasing space February 18, 2007 The Wall Street West plan to bring a "mini Manhattan" to the Poconos — a campus of offices fiber-optically linked to financial service companies in New York City — has spawned construction of a "class A" office space in Marshalls Creek. Waterview Office Plaza, an office complex off Route 80, is being marketed by Coldwell Banker Commercial Phyllis Rubin Real Estate in Stroudsburg. The plaza, scheduled for completion in early 2008, will be a state-of-the-art office of glass and steel. It is touted as another step in Gov. Ed Rendell's initiative to build millions of square feet of office space, improve infrastructure and install hundreds of miles of fiber-optic cable in as many as nine Pennsylvania counties. This initiative started after 9/11 to guard vital business information and function from future terrorist attack. "This is the first real Class A building in the area and exactly what New York- and New Jersey-based firms are looking for," said Susan Mikels, Coldwell Banker commercial specialist. "For business owners that want to offer a better quality of life for their employees or are in a situation where they wish to create a disaster recovery location ... Waterview Office Plaza is an excellent choice." Construction of the project will begin this spring. Coldwell Banker Commercial is leasing build-to-suit office suites. |
